Job Description

 I.  JOB SUMMARY

 The Windows Workstation and Application Specialist is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and support of Windows-based workstations and associated applications within an organization. This role ensures optimal performance, security, and user satisfaction while providing technical support and troubleshooting. The position offers growth opportunities into junior systems administration, allowing the candidate to develop skills in server management, network administration, and IT infrastructure.

II. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Workstation Management

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows operating systems (e.g., Windows 10/11) on desktops and laptops.
  • Perform hardware and software upgrades, patch management, and system updates.
  • Ensure workstations comply with organizational security policies and standards.

Application Support

  • Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot business applications (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Adobe, proprietary software).
  • Provide end-user support for application-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with vendors for software licensing and technical support.

User Support

  • Respond to helpdesk tickets, providing timely and effective technical support to employees.
  • Train users on software tools and best practices for workstation usage.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions for knowledge base maintenance.

System Maintenance and Monitoring

  • Monitor workstation performance and address issues related to connectivity, storage, or resource usage.

Security and Compliance

  • Apply security patches and updates to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Configure and manage endpoint protection tools.
  • Assist in enforcing group policies and access controls via Active Directory.

 III. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3 years of experience in desktop support, IT helpdesk, or similar roles.
  • Technical Skills (Must haves)
    • Proficiency with Windows OS (10/11) and Microsoft Office 365.
    • Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting (PCs, laptops, peripherals).
    • Basic knowledge of Active Directory, networking (TCP/IP), and endpoint security.
    • Exposure to PowerShell or other scripting languages is a plus.
    • Ivanti Application deployment and patching is a plus.
  • Soft Skills
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Customer-service-oriented with a focus on user satisfaction.
  • Certifications (Preferred but Not Required)
    • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+.
    • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
