Job Description

I.  OVERVIEW:

The Paralegal will provide comprehensive support to our legal department by assisting with legal research, document preparation, and case management related to mortgage banking and real estate transactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mortgage laws and regulations, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

 II. EXPECTATIONS:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and regulatory filings.
  • Conduct legal research on various issues related to mortgage banking and real estate.
  • Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Prepare summaries of legal cases, statutes, and regulations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and other departments to gather information and support ongoing legal matters.
  • Assist in the review and analysis of compliance requirements and ensure adherence to industry regulations.
  • Handle correspondence with clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Support the legal team in litigation preparation, including discovery and evidence gathering.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

 III.  JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Certification from a recognized paralegal organization (e.g., NALA, NFPA) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of paralegal experience, preferably in mortgage banking or real estate law.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage lending laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
