Job Description
I. OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the SVP of Capital Markets, assists in all areas related to mortgage trading, rate sheets, pricing, locking, special quotes, extended locks, and products for loan programs offered by the Company. The position requires a highly skilled and experienced Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) and Loan Trader to work with our dynamic Capital Markets team. The position is responsible for trading both mortgage-backed securities and loans, managing interest rate risk, and optimizing the profitability of the hedged pipeline. This role requires a deep understanding of the MBS market, strong analytical skills, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions.
II. EXPECTATIONS:
- Execute TBA mortgage-backed securities trades and sell whole loans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and industry developments to identify trading opportunities and risks.
- Analyze and evaluate the performance of the hedged pipeline, making adjustments to assumptions and process as necessary to optimize returns.
- Collaborate with other members of the Capital Markets team to develop and implement trading strategies.
- Maintain relationships with brokers, dealers, and other market participants to facilitate efficient trading operations.
- Prepare and present reports on trading activities, portfolio performance, and market conditions to senior management.
- Ensure accurate and timely settlement of trades, working closely with the operations team to resolve any issues.
- Stay current with changes in market regulations and industry best practices.

III. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in trading mortgage-backed securities and loans.
- Strong knowledge of the MBS market, especially agency securities.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Proven track record of successful trading and pipeline management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in trading platforms and financial software.
- Highly skilled with Excel required and SQL programming skills preferred.
- In-depth understanding of fixed income securities, particularly mortgage-backed securities.
- Ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
